Garvald Edinburgh is a Scottish Charity offering creative opportunities and support for over 230 people with learning disabilities both in their own buildings and in community settings. They are inspired by the ideas of the educator and philosopher Rudolf Steiner and have been operating in Edinburgh since 1969.
Their high-quality workshops provide diverse craft, artistic and educational activities including: pottery, glassworking, joinery, puppetry, tool refurbishment, furniture restoration, textiles, painting and more. Their bakery, confectionery and canteen workshops offer the opportunity to gain experience in food production. Their shop in Morningside, the Mulberry Bush, provides retail work experience.
Garvald runs a wide and changing programme of initiatives across the week, including aerobics, bio-dance, eurythmy, swimming, walking groups, and yoga. Their community events throughout the year regularly bring together people from across Garvald and the wider community.
