Description

The Grassmarket Community Project is a social enterprise and contemporary events venue with a unique ethical, social and heritage twist, located in the heart of Edinburgh. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to hold your next conference, training day or group meeting, the Grassmarket’s event spaces all come with excellent service and facilities.

Nestled at the foot of Candlemaker Row, the Centre marries the historical Greyfriars Kirkhouse with a light and spacious modern venue. The main event space comes fully equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment and technical assistance can be provided for your event. Catering can also be provided, and bespoke menus can be devised by their versatile kitchen team.

The event spaces available are incredibly versatile and all private and professional events are tailored around your organisation’s needs. Whether you're looking to organise an AGM, book signing, conference, Christmas party, group meeting, film screening or training day, the team at Grassmarket will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Based in the heart of the Grassmarket in Edinburgh, the Grassmarket Community Project is a partnership between the Grassmarket Mission and Greyfriars Kirk, and its mission is to support people through transitions in their lives and helping disengaged people re-connect with themselves, others and the wider community.

The social enterprise offers a mixture of education programs, social enterprise and social integration activities. Currently these are delivered through cookery, gardening, woodwork, art, music and textiles programs. Free meals are served to participants in the project and a drop-in meal service runs on a Monday evening. Though founded on work with those traditionally labelled ‘homeless,’ this project has been extended to all adults who face ‘social exclusion’ and have been marginalised by lack of opportunity, skills and aspiration.
