Livewell People + Places is the latest organisation to sign the Buy Social Pledge, an initiative that empowers businesses to use their purchasing power for social and environmental good across Scotland’s communities.
The pledge, run by Social Enterprise Scotland, brings together corporate businesses, SMEs, academic institutions, and public sector bodies in a shared commitment to integrating social enterprises into their supply chains. It allows businesses and institutions to harness their purchasing power and contribute to positive social change in the communities in which they work.
By signing up to the Buy Social Pledge, the Glasgow based wellbeing organisation has reinforced its commitment to promoting inclusive economic growth. The pledge signifies a transformative approach, where businesses become the key drivers for positive, measurable change in the communities.
Gerry Mitchell, Health and Wellbeing Lead at Livewell said: “At the core of the Livewell People + Places approach lies a commitment to work alongside local social enterprise - to utilise their skills and knowledge - in order to provide quality occupational health and community health and wellbeing support in our workplaces and in our communities
“Livewell People + Places was built on the values of community health and wellbeing and is committed to grow capacity in our communities, to support people to live and work well. When we deliver health and wellbeing supports, we work alongside local skilled practitioners and social enterprise organisations who can offer the relevant expertise to meet the health and wellbeing needs of each client. We have a firm commitment to both utilising local skills, knowledge and expertise in our service provision, and to buying social”.
Jamie Lawson, Strategic Partnerships and Engagement Manager at Social Enterprise Scotland said: "We are delighted to welcome Livewell People + Places to the Buy Social Pledge. Their commitment to supporting local social enterprises and embedding social value into their procurement practices is a fantastic example of how businesses can drive real change. By choosing to buy social, they are not only strengthening their own services but also contributing to a fairer, more inclusive economy across Scotland."
