The Borders

Description

This is a beautiful Tartan Scottish Terrier handmade with love and made to order. The green, gold and black of this tartan are taken from the former Coat of Arms of Berwick County Council which showed a bear chained to a wych elm tree. The blue crossed by purple represents that most iconic of Scotland’s rivers, the Tweed which forms the boundary between the historic Kingdoms of Scotland and England.

As well as delivering craft, design and technology training and teaching sewing competency, this pioneering social enterprise also delivers on the Greener Scotland agenda of reducing, re-using and recycling. At least 70% of materials will be recycled and our products are made using environmentally sound methods. Retweed aims to raise awareness of environmental and social issues with the Borders community and with their customer base. Most importantly, ReTweed improves skills and confidence and provides routes into education, enterprise employment and volunteering for women.
