Description

Andy Lang (AKA the Potter of Leith) is the instructor of the throwing on the wheel courses at Leith Community Pottery. Andy gained his Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramics in 1983 in Dundee. In his classes, besides teaching the techniques of throwing on the wheel, he also aims to pass my passion for pottery on to my students.

The course takes 10 weeks to complete, 2.5 hours per week. Stoneware clay and electric wheels are used in the classes.

Leith Community Pottery CIC is a social enterprise which offers courses and workshops throughout the year, many with a specialist focus on the potter’s wheel. They aim to offer free and subsidised access to classes and workshops to those living with poor mental health, social isolation or exclusion.
