Campaign launches to highlight ethical gifts that give back

What if your Christmas shopping this year made a difference?

Welcome to the Buy Social Scotland website, a new gift directory created to showcase ethical gift options from social enterprises all around Scotland and make it easy for you to find a present that gives back to local communities this festive season.

Take a look around to discover great gift picks for your loved ones and the social enterprises behind them who deliver social and environmental impact. This online destination is not an ecommerce site, but all you have to do to purchase a gift that you like is to click on the "Purchase on website" button on the page of the gift you want to buy to be taken straight to the social enterprise who is selling it online, in-store or by contacting them directly.

With this initiative, developed by Social Enterprise Scotland and supported by The Scottish Government, our goal is to drive awareness and grow markets for Scottish social enterprises that sell a product, experience or voucher that makes a great ethical gift. Beyond this pilot campaign, we have plans to scale this online destination to showcase a greater range of social enterprises that sell products and services that make a difference in our communities.

At the moment, this ethical gift directory includes 120+ listings from social enterprises around Scotland but we'll be adding new listings through the month of December so bookmark it to have a browse every week as you continue your Christmas shopping. Right now you can find a diverse range of gift options ranging from arts and crafts to health and beauty, home and garden, clothing and accessories, sport and wellbeing, as well as unforgettable experiences and gift vouchers.

This pilot campaign will be running until Christmas and we'd love for you to share the word by sending your family and friends the link to the gift directory buysocialscotland.com. You can also use the hashtag #BuySocialScotland on social media to find interesting content from the campaign and the Scottish social enterprises that are participating. If you find out about a great social enterprise through the directory - give them a shout out on social media, they'll be so grateful for your support in what has been a very tough year for local businesses.

How to get your ethical gift featured in the directory and campaign?

Do you know a Scottish social enterprise who should be included? Are you one yourself? We have a short Google form available to submit a new gift listing, which we'll be adding each week through the month. You can also download our campaign toolkit which includes a range of images and assets on our online campaign drive.
